Racing through time
Castle Combe Race Track’s first racing event took place in July 1950.
Legends of motor racing such as Stirling Moss, Roy Salvadori, and Mike Hawthorn competed here, boosting the track’s reputation as a premier venue. The circuit went on to host various racing car categories, including Formula 3 and Grand Touring cars.
In the 1970s and 1980s the circuit was home to prestigious championships such as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) and the Formula Ford Championship.
Local talent like Terry Sanger added to the vibrant motorsport community. During the 1990s and 2000s, Castle Combe expanded its event calendar attracting a wider audience.
Future Formula One stars like David Coulthard and Jenson Button also competed here in their formative years.
Modification and Diversification
Over time, Castle Combe Race Track has seen many changes with facility upgrades and improvements to infrastructure. Additional safety measures were introduced such as chicanes to limit speeds on the more perilous sections of the track.
