After a long, grey and seemingly unending Winter, at last, spring has arrived, bringing with it the perfect opportunity to take to some of the most popular UK driving roads among supercar enthusiasts.

With drier tarmac, brighter skies, and scenic routes emerging from their winter slumber, now is the time to rediscover the pure exhilaration of driving.

To inspire your next journey, we’ve selected three of the country’s most picturesque UK driving roads for the ultimate springtime escape.

Cornwall – The Atlantic Highway (A39)

The A39, famously dubbed the Atlantic Highway, is a dream drive with roads hugging the rugged Cornish coast, sweeping past charming villages, and serving up breath taking sea views.

Start at Bude and head south, past clifftops, golden beaches, and those charming little fishing villages that look like they’ve been lifted straight off a postcard.

Port Isaac (yes, the one from Doc Martin) is worth a detour, and if you time it right, you can catch a sunset over Watergate Bay before rolling into Newquay to enjoy a leisurely dinner at one of the many fine dining establishments there.

The Cotswolds – The Romantic Road

If Cornwall’s all about coastal drama, the Cotswolds is its storybook cousin. With rolling hills, honey-coloured villages, and a landscape that seems untouched by time it is one of the favourite UK driving roads among supercar enthusiasts.

The so-called Romantic Road is around a 50-mile loop of pure, uninterrupted driving joy, linking some of the most idyllic spots in Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.

Start in Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the Venice of the Cotswolds. From there, the road meanders through Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, and Chipping Campden, where you can stop for a luxurious cream tea that’ll put a good 20 minutes on your ETA.

The roads here are narrow but rewarding, with sweeping bends and long straights that seem designed for a leisurely springtime blast.

Scotland – The North Coast 500 (NC500)

If you really want to give your supercar (and your nerve) a workout, Scotland’s North Coast 500 is the one. It’s a 516-mile loop of jaw-dropping scenery, perilously winding roads, and enough dramatic landscapes to fill an entire season of Game of Thrones.

Driving Road, NC500, North Coast, Scotland

Spring is the perfect time to tackle it – before the summer influx of motorhomes, but late enough to avoid the worst of the Highland snow. Start in Inverness and head west towards Applecross, tackling the legendary Bealach na Bà, a mountain pass that’s as stunning as it is exhilarating.

From there, it’s all lochs, mountains, and hairpin bends as you wind your way around the northern coast, through Durness, John O’Groats, and back down the east coast.

The driving here is the stuff of dreams – long, empty stretches of tarmac flanked by dramatic cliffs and shimmering lochs. Just watch out for rogue sheep!

Time to hit the road

Spring in the UK is fleeting – blink, and you’ll miss it. But for those few glorious months, the country’s roads transform into something truly special. Whether you fancy hugging the Cornish coast, winding through the Cotswolds, or going full Braveheart in the Scottish Highlands, now’s the time to dust off the driving gloves and get out there.
